Recently, the 16th International Symposium on Pipeline Engineering and Trenchless Technology was held in Shenzhen. At the event, the results of the 2025“Stein Trenchless Outstanding Contribution Award” selection were announced. Chairman Shi Zhanhua of Hebei Huayuan Science and Industry Co., Ltd., standing out from numerous candidates with nearly 40 years of deep involvement and outstanding achievements in the trenchless field, was awarded this international honor.

The “Stein Trenchless Outstanding Contribution Award”, named after Professor Stein, a pioneer of trenchless technology in Germany, was established in 2017 by the International Institute for Trenchless Technology Research. The award aims to recognize leading figures worldwide who have made exceptional contributions to the trenchless industry each year. The selection process involves multiple rounds, including expert committee nomination, online voting, and expert review, and carries extremely high industry recognition.
In his remarks, Chairman ShiZhanhua recalled that since participating in the introduction of China’s first directional drilling machine in 1984 and the first Yellow River crossing project, he has remained committed to the industry for nearly four decades, personally witnessing and advancing the rapid development of China’s trenchless technology. He pointed out that China has now reached an advanced international level in terms of crossing length, pipe diameter, equipment development, and the improvement of the industrial chain.
Seeing more and more young people join the trenchless industry, Chairman Shi expressed great satisfaction and stated that he hopes to work together with peers and the new generation of practitioners to continuously promote industry progress.
This award not only recognizes Chairman Shi’s personal contributions, but also reflects the technological strength and industry influence of the Huayuan Group, injecting new momentum into the company’s and the industry’s future development.
