On October 18, 2020, the successful pipeline pullback of Baigou River Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) crossing marked a victorious start for Huayuan's contracted "Section 2 of HDD Works for Phase I West Inner Mongolia Coal-to-Natural Gas Pipeline Project", while also setting a positive tone for the entire Phase I project.

The Baigou River HDD crossing is located in Gaobeidian City, Baoding, Hebei Province, belonging to the Dingxing-Huanghua Gas Transmission Pipeline. The pipeline design pressure at the crossing point is 10MPa with Class III area classification. The crossing section uses D1016×26.2 L485M longitudinally submerged arc welded steel pipe with 3LPE reinforced external anti-corrosion coating, classified as a large-scale crossing project. The HDD crossing features 8°entry angle and 6°exit angle, with a horizontal crossing length of 1,438 meters through mainly silty clay and silt sand layers. The optical cable conduit uses D114×5 Q235 welded steel pipe, installed separately with 10-meter spacing from the main pipeline.

Huayuan won the bid for "Section 2 of HDD Works for Phase I West Inner Mongolia Coal-to-Natural Gas Pipeline Project" on September 17, 2019. This section includes six HDD crossings: besides Baigou River, there are South Juma River (1,2,3) HDD crossings, Yongding River HDD crossing, and Ziya River HDD crossing.

After winning the bid, Huayuan promptly established the project department and actively organized construction, overcoming difficulties such as workforce mobilization challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Construction commenced on August 10, 2020. On August 21, 2020, the optical cable conduit crossing was successfully completed. On August 29, 2020, main pipeline crossing construction began, employing techniques including single-pass pilot hole drilling, 7-stage reaming, diverter hole cleaning, exit-side mud reinjection, and pipe thruster-assisted pullback. The successful pipeline pullback was achieved on October 18, 2020. During construction, Huayuan overcame numerous challenges including large-diameter reaming, embankment toe slurry leakage, poor mud returns, and continuous levee settlement monitoring, ultimately achieving complete success.

The Baigou River HDD crossing is the first completed HDD crossing in the "Phase I West Inner Mongolia Coal-to-Natural Gas Pipeline Project". The successful completion fully demonstrates Huayuan's serious attitude and responsible spirit towards the project and the client. Moving forward, Huayuan will continue to forge ahead and complete the remaining construction tasks of "Section 2 of HDD Works for Phase I West Inner Mongolia Coal-to-Natural Gas Pipeline Project" with high quality.
